Nutrition for ageing well

British favourites. Quietly made better.

As we get older, nutrition matters more — but meals still need to feel familiar. So we start with the food people recognise, then improve the balance using Mediterranean-style ideas, DASH principles and MIND-inspired ingredients.

No strict diet plan. No strange health food. Just casseroles, pies, fish, potatoes, vegetables, beans, grains and proper meals with more of the good stuff worked in.

The Wholesome Meals approach

Familiar first. Better nutrition underneath.

Older adults do not need dinner to feel clinical. They need food that is tastes familiar, easy to heat and make life easier across the week — with protein, fibre, plants, calcium-aware choices and sensible salt balance considered.

Protein for fullness and everyday strength
Fibre and plants for digestion and immune system
Calcium-aware choices for stronger bones
Familiar meals, not fussy health food
Heart-aware meals with better balance
Brain-friendly ingredients where they fit
Sensible salt balance without bland food
Nutrition labels families can understand quickly
For families

Send meals without making food a second job.

Helping Mum, Dad or an older relative eat well can quickly become shopping lists, fridge checks, phone calls and last-minute food runs.

Wholesome Meals gives families a simpler way to help: proper meals in the fridge, clear labels, flexible ordering and less daily food worry.

About us

Wholesome Meals, on a wholesome mission.

Wholesome Meals starts with a simple goal: help older people eat better while keeping mealtimes familiar, dignified and easy.

As we grow, we want every weekly box to help fund meals for elderly people at risk of malnutrition through subsidised boxes, community partners and practical food support.

"When I needed better meal support for my own grandparents, the choices just did not feel good enough.

Supermarket deliveries helped, but substitutions, tiny labels and mixed cooking instructions made things harder.

Ready meal services had choice, and healthier options looked good on paper, but too many meals missed the mark: too salty, too small, too gym-focused, not quite right nutritionally, or too unfamiliar for my grandparents to actually pick.

I wanted something better: familiar meals, better nutrition, bigger labels, simple heating and a weekly box that made life easier for everyone involved.

That is why I started Wholesome Meals.

It is made for older adults living independently, families trying to keep someone they love eating well, and people who may be facing mealtimes alone."

FAQs

What families ask before filling the fridge.

Simple answers for seniors, carers and adult children choosing meals for a parent.

Can I choose the meals?

Yes. Everyone chooses from one weekly menu. The clear labels help you spot strength support, brain-friendly meals, plant variety, calcium-aware choices, lower salt options and softer meals.

Is delivery free?

Yes. The weekly box is designed around free delivery to the door, so meals arrive chilled and ready to store.

Can I change meals, skip or pause?

Yes. You can repeat favourites, change meals, skip a week or pause when needed.

Can I order meals for Mum or Dad?

Yes. The service is designed for family ordering, so you can build a weekly box and send it to a parent or someone you care about.

Does this help seniors stay independent?

It can help with one important part of independence: eating well at home. Meals arrive ready to heat, labels are easy to read and the fridge stays stocked without daily shopping or cooking from scratch.

What does Mediterranean, DASH and MIND-inspired mean?

It means the meals borrow ideas from those eating patterns: more plants, beans, whole grains, fish, olive oil-style fats, leafy greens and sensible salt-aware choices. It is not a strict diet plan.

Do you claim to prevent dementia or Alzheimer’s?

No. The meals use brain-friendly ingredients and are inspired by Mediterranean, DASH and MIND-style eating patterns, but we do not claim to prevent, treat or cure dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Why does plant variety matter?

The American Gut Project found that people eating 30 or more different plant types per week had a more diverse gut microbiome than those eating 10 or fewer.

For you, that means more variety across the week can help support digestion, gut health, immunity and nutrient intake. It also makes meals feel more balanced, colourful and satisfying.

That is why we build vegetables, beans, lentils, grains, herbs and spices into familiar meals, so better variety happens without making food complicated.

Are the labels easy to read?

Yes. Large-print cooking instructions, clear heating steps and simple meal information are a core part of the service.

Can meals be for one or two people?

Yes. Meals can be chosen as single portions or for two, making them perfect for individuals and couples.

Make mealtimes simple again.
